Harlan Lake produces Whopper Wiper

But

Tuesday morning, a farmer in Harlan County reported a foul odor coming from his well.  As the day progressed, a number of Alma citizens became concerned about the taste of the water.     Bill Rogers, who farms southeast of Orleans, called Sheriff Sherlock at approximately 7:30 a.m., October 5th, 2003.  He said, "When I was out in the field this morning, this awful odor almost knocked me over.  It seemed to be coming from my irrigation ditches."     Sheriff Sherlock replied, "We have received a number of calls in relation to this problem.  We are currently investigating the source related to this problem, and checking the surrounding areas."     Later in the day at approximately 4:15 p.m., Rita Bee and Betty Lou, two residents of Stamford, called Sheriff Sherlock with reports of bad-tasting water.  These are just a few of the numerous complaints reported in the last week.  In our interview with the Sheriff, he said, "In the last week, many complaints have been reported about the water tasting bad, but the source is unknown.  We are investigating the Alma and surrounding towns, searching for an answer."
